3 Ways to Make Your Prayers Heard
1. Prayer is about relationship first.
Christ always addressed God as “Father,” so should we. God listens to his children, so start with your relationship with him. You’re not speaking to a far-off God. He’s your Father in heaven.
2. Ask for God’s will.
Most of our prayers are about our wishes and desires, which is not a bad thing, but God wants the best for us. Ask God to give you what you need and not what you want. Submitting our wills to his teaches us about God’s will and the best way of doing it. Learning God’s will takes time, time in prayer and submission. Christ prayed all night once (Luke 6:12). Sometimes prayer can be long, tiring work, but it can be the only way to discovering God’s will.
3. Be confident that your prayers are heard.
“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him” (1 John 5:14-15).
